Wrinkle Concerns FAQ

Wrinkles form as a result of muscle contractions under the skin, which create lines and creases over time. There are two main types of wrinkles: dynamic and static.

Dynamic Wrinkles
Dynamic wrinkles appear when the facial muscles contract during expressions such as smiling, frowning, or squinting. These wrinkles are visible when the muscles are active and tend to disappear when the face is at rest. Common areas for dynamic wrinkles include the forehead, the corners of the eyes (crowsfeet), and the lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

Static Wrinkles
Over time, repeated muscle contractions cause the skin to lose its elasticity and the underlying collagen to break down. As a result, dynamic wrinkles can become permanent fixtures on the face, even when the muscles are relaxed. These are known as static wrinkles. Factors such as aging, sun exposure, and lifestyle choices (like smoking) can accelerate the formation of static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are visible all the time and can deepen with age.

Treating and preventing wrinkles involves a combination of lifestyle choices, skincare practices, and professional treatments.

1. Sun Protection
   – Use sunscreen daily with at least SPF 50.
   – Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
   – Avoid excessive sun exposure, especially during peak hours.

2. Healthy Lifestyle
   – Avoid smoking, as it accelerates skin aging.
   – Maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
   – Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

3. Skincare Routine/ products
  – Please seek professional advice for personalised treatment plan

4. Healthy Habits
   – Get adequate sleep to allow the skin to repair and regenerate.
   – Manage stress through techniques like meditation, exercise, or hobbies.
   – Avoid repetitive facial expressions that contribute to wrinkle formation.

5. Non-surgical Treatments

Recovery time is minimal; most people can return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment. However there are activities to avoid such as exercise and saunas for 24 hours post treatment and staying upright for 4 hours post treatment. Aftercare is advised during your consultation and after treatment.

Treatments for wrinkle concerns are generally needed every three to six months to maintain the desired results.

When administered by an experienced professional, wrinkle concern treatments should result in a natural and refreshed appearance, without the “frozen” look.
